Top Technology Trends in 2020

Today, technology is changing at such a rapid pace that annual predictions of trends can seem out-of-date before they even go live as I’m writing this blog and publish it later. Yesterday’s invention seems old today. Technology-based careers don’t change at the same rate but they learn and do evolve. One who wants to be successful in any field, learning and developing new skills is the key.

What does it mean? It means update with current technology trends with keeping eyes on the future to know which skills you need to know for your job.

Here are eight technology trends that you should watch in 2020. Some of them are currently trending but we will see their impact on industries and jobs in 2020.

  1. Internet of Things: The Future

I don’t need to tell you that what is IoT, because we seeing lot of IoT applications everywhere. Today, many things are being built with the internet and to connect to each other. Hence, the Internet of Things or IoT enables devices to be connected and exchange data over the Internet. It also enables better safety, efficiency and decision making as data is collected and analyzed.

Today, billions of devices are connected to the Internet for daily tasks. Many sectors such as media, manufacturing, medical and healthcare, consumer applications, and energy management have exponential growth with IoT. However, despite this boom, not enough IoT professionals are getting trained for jobs. This is great opportunity for aspirants who want to do career in IoT as well as decision-makers who are in search of IoT passionate people.

  1. Artificial Intelligence (AI): The Human Made Brain

Artificial Intelligence, or AI, has already received a lot of buzz in recent years, but it continues to be a trend to watch because of its effects on how we live, work and play. AI perform tasks such as recognition of images, speech or patterns and decision making faster and more accurately than humans.

AI is has been already widely used. Many people use AI services in one form or another every day, including navigation apps, streaming services, smartphone personal assistants, ride-sharing apps, home personal assistants, and smart home devices.

AI is one part of what we refer to broadly as automation which is a hot topic because of potential job loss. Experts say automation will eliminate more than 70 million jobs by 2030. However, automation is creating jobs by eliminating them. Jobs will be created in programming, development, testing, support, and maintenance.

  1. Machine Learning

Machine Learning is a subset of AI. With Machine Learning, computers are programmed to learn to do something that they are not programmed to do.

Machine Learning is rapidly being deployed in all kinds of industries which creating a huge demand for skilled professionals. Machine Learning applications are used for data mining, data analytics, and pattern recognition. On the consumer end, Machine Learning powers web search results, real-time ads, and network intrusion detection, to name only a few of the many tasks it can do.

While Machine Learning is a subset of AI, Machine Learning have a subset, including neural networks, natural language processing (NLP), and deep learning. Each of these subsets offers an opportunity for specializing in a career field that will grow at an alarming pace in the near future.

  1. Robotic Process Automation or RPA

Like AI and Machine Learning, Robotic Process Automation is another technology that is automating jobs. Process Automation is the use of software to automate business processes such as interpreting applications, processing transactions, dealing with data, and replying to emails. RPA automates repetitive tasks that people used to do with higher speed.

For you as the technology professional looking to the future and trying to understand technology trends, RPA offers plenty of career opportunities such as developer, project manager, consultant, business analyst, and solution architect.

  1. Blockchain

In recent few years, most people think of blockchain technology in relation to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, blockchain offers security that is useful in many other ways. In simple words, blockchain can be described as data you can only add to, not take away from or change. Hence the term “chain” because you are making a chain of data. Not being able to change the previous blocks is what makes it secure. That’s why this heightened security in the blockchain is used for cryptocurrency.

As the use of blockchain technology increases, so too does the demand for skilled professionals with the second-fastest growing category of jobs and 14 job openings for every one blockchain developer.

  1. Edge Computing

Formerly a technology trend to watch, cloud computing has become mainstream, with major players AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud dominating the market. The adoption of cloud computing is still growing with more and more businesses migrate to a cloud solution. But cloud computing is no longer the emerging technology, Edge is.

Edge computing is designed to help solve some of those problems as a way to bypass the latency caused by cloud computing and getting data to a data center for processing.

With any growing market, edge computing will create job demand, primarily for software engineers.

  1. Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality

Virtual Reality (VR) drenches the client in a domain while Augment Reality (AR) improves their condition. Despite the fact that VR has principally been utilized for gaming up to this point, it has likewise been utilized for preparing.

Both have huge potential in preparing, excitement, training, showcasing, and even recovery after damage.

The interest for occupation competitors with VR and AR learning is up 37 percent, yet the potential representatives are hard to come by. That request will just increment.

  1. Cyber Security

Cuber security probably won’t appear to be a developing innovation, given that it has been around for some time, however it is advancing similarly as different advances seem to be. That is to a limited extent since dangers are continually new. The malignant programmers who are attempting to illicitly get to information are not going to surrender at any point in the near future, and they will keep on discovering approaches to traverse even the hardest safety efforts.

As confirmation of the solid requirement for cybersecurity experts, the quantity of cybersecurity employments is growing multiple times faster growing multiple times quicker than other tech occupations. Notwithstanding, we’re missing the mark with regards to filling those employments
